I endured a quarter of this book before I gave up. The writing is incredibly awkward and contains little dialogue but a LOT of words. The author is trying to express deeply psychological issues and behaviors by just telling us with pretty adjectives and constant italicized phrases. There needs to be more dialogue and less telling when it comes to the more disturbing parts. There’s also way too much possessiveness and lack of consent, while literally centering around a woman trying to free herself from her past trauma. The plot is probably going to be good but I can’t stand the experience of reading it. Cringey
