I read this book when I was twelve years old. I decided to read this again this year as I’m interested in reading the next books in the series. I also feel like I need to carry on with this series to see what happens next. Plus, I loved the other books in this series so of course I wanted to read the next one in the series.

This book still follows Greg Heffley from the first novel. Greg suddenly finds himself dealing with the pressures of boy-girl parties, increased responsibilities, and even the awkward changes that come with getting older—all without his best friend, Rowley, at his side. Greg Heffley has always been in a hurry to grow up. But is getting older really all it’s cracked up to be? Can Greg make it through on his own? Or will he have to face the “ugly truth?”

I think my favourite chapters are between Greg and his responsibilities. It's giving me flashbacks of me at High School worrying about my jobs and chores but also worrying about what people think of you. I found it funny watching him try and navigate through family parties and life without his best friend. I just missed the Greg and Rowley dynamics.

This novel is an easy read and I would highly recommend to children looking for something to read. I really enjoyed reading this and cannot wait for the next book in the series.
