this book was… an experience.

I went in expecting it to be really bad. Really graphic, gory and hard to read. And up until the 50% mark, I was finding myself surprised that it wasn’t *that* bad. Sure it’s cannibalism and factory farming humans but it’s a cold, dystopian critique of humanity’s depravity, and wasn’t just gore for the sake of gore. And, the main character was someone you could empathize with.

But then he did THAT.

And then the rest of the book fell apart. Suddenly, there were random gore scenes being inserted for no reason other than gore. The very last page had me close the book and stare at my ceiling. And then start searching for a new book to read as a palate cleanser immediately.

Genuinely would have been a better book without the rape and unnecessary gore. There was plenty of disturbing material without those!!
