This book was so chilling and really made me question today’s society. I found it extremely captivating, I caught myself wondering how corrupt the party could actually get. It was so disturbing the way Winston’s mind was completely destroyed, bit by bit, and then claimed by the party. The last few pages of this book will stay with me forever, the way he has been permanently changed. I found it heartbreaking what happened with Julia also. They were both so driven by their hatred for the party, the scene where Winston tells her ‘I don’t care how many men you’ve been with, the more the better’ truly touched me, as their relationship is so driven by pure rebellion against the party and big brother. It does make me question if they were truly in love, due to some comments Winston makes, however I think that was the least of their problems in the book, and it made me glad whilst reading that Winston and Julia had a happy outlet for a while.
