Daughter of the Siren Queen by Tricia Levenseller
4.0
Ava-lee is such a pretty name for a ship. Fitting too for Alosa serving as the captain.
This duology(?) has been a great adventure on the ocean and under. Sirens or mermaids are definitely some of my favorites when it comes to fantasy stories, and this didn't disappoint. Some scenes (not a lot) in this book were predictable for me but still didn't take the fun out of reading.
What I got from these books though:
Men are greedy and disgusting. Trash.
Not all parents are good even though they provided you food, clothing and shelter.
That's pretty much our society.
Anyway and again, I love these books. They definitely slowly pulled me out of my slump and it surprised me that I finished them so fast despite them being fantasy. The story is compelling for me enough that I just can't seem to pause because I wanted to know more. The female crew was AWESOME. Salute to the ladies. And the relationship between Alosa and Riden are another thing that was keeping my interest. I loved it.
