The Midnight Star
by Marie Lu
I was not in the right headspace for this book. I was in a constant state of cranky as I read. The ending was the only thing that felt satisfying. Adelina's character was able to come full circle, and honestly if you skip to chapter 7 you'll save yourself time and grief.
Adelina lost that spark that made her a great villain. Her decisions were nonsensical and childish. (Yes, I get that her health/mental state were deteriorating.) I quietly screamed for a successful assassination attempt. Maginao, Violetta, Enzo, Teren, Raffaele, Lucent, and Maeve fell to the shadows in this book which caused me to lose my drive to read.
