I’ve read this book for the second time now and honestly, I didn’t know what I would rate it, especially with how much how much I loved this book when I read it the first time. I rated it 5 stars based on memories alone, which I can stand by that choice, but I wanted to know how I would really feel about it today (again with how much I loved it) and omg, this book is definitely 5 stars. I probably wasn’t even halfway through when I knew this. I think especially since I’ve read this book before, it mostly just a good time (even though it’s definitely a good time even if you’re just reading it for the first time), and I was literally just happy and laughing all the way through. This book… just means so much to me,,, it meant so much to younger me and it means so much now. I’ve just finished the book, and I’m tearing up still. Something about this book, it’s just good vibes. Honestly, I think Kacen Callender can do this to me. Hurricane child was the first book I read from him and I loved it so much when I was younger— then I reread it and loved it so much again. But this book, definitely means so much to me, just like it did when I was younger. I may have forgotten why, but now all those feelings are coming back, and new ones are emerging. I can’t even describe how I feel,, but I hope you get it, especially if you’ve read this book. It’s just a story of love (which I especially needed right now) and is a message everyone needs, especially as queer, and more especially as trans/ gender nonconforming people. If you didn’t get it from my long blurb, I love this book. I love it so much. I literally finished it one sitting because I just needed to,, it’s especially noteworthy that I couldn’t put down a book I’ve already read. I do think Callender is an amazing writer and their stories are just so real. Praise the Gods indeed. I can’t wait until a couple years later and I can read this book again. :>
