Sally Rooney's writing never ceases to amaze me. Her characters are so well developed that you can't put her books down. This book is so beautifully written and describes the disparities between class and age as it relates to romantic and platonic relationships as well as life in general. This book could be considered a coming-of-age story in a way as it focuses on the strong character development of Frances. Frances is a very relatable character who struggles silently with various issues in order to appear in control of her life and the effect people have on her. The book has a bit of a slow start but once you get into it, it is so heart-wrenching, emotive, and relatable. The ending absolutely ripped my heart out, I love this book so so much.
There is also some overlap between Conversations with Friends and Normal People which was really interesting to see and also very fitting since both books deal with similar themes. So, if you liked Normal People, you will definitely enjoy this book.
