How can an author make characters I like so much while writing a book I detest? I find it hard to put into words the way I felt about this book. I love the miscommunication trope, but having it go on for 3/4ths of the book seems ineffective. There is a frankly unnecessary amount of cultural references that extremely date this book.  Top it off with being hit over the head with the unplanned pregnancy and a very odd sex scene… I was never more glad to close a book for good.
