Elves with Benefits by Jana Aston

Reindeer Falls is a special place especially during the holiday season and each of these short stories have been fun, steamy, and entertaining. I was excited to get back there and this story was a fun read too. Maggie is extremely enthusiastic about the holidays, like over the top insane with it so when Ryan shows up being all humbug about it she doesn’t let anything fly. She is a Christmas cop walking around handing out citations to those who are not doing their Christmas duties like decorating, or being cheerful, but she is also the top real estate agent in town and tells Ryan there is no way he can sale his newly inherited house until after the New Year because putting it up for sale during Christmas doesn’t go with the town’s aesthetic. Ryan and Maggie butt heads over her over zealous Christmas cheer and citations, but they are also attracted to each other and can’t help the feelings that get involved. While I really did enjoy this book I was a little Grinch like when it came to Maggie because seriously you’re really going to cite someone for not decorating and they have to pay a fee? If I was Ryan I wouldn’t not only decorate but refuse to sale and pay the fees. There was so many what ifs about it like what if someone couldn’t do it for health reasons, religious, financial? Then she really thought he seduced her just to get out of decorating then to cite him for that to me was kind of insane. So I had to shut my Grinch like logic down and try to go with the flow overlooking how crazy she came off. When I did that then I really got more into it because after all this is fiction and sometimes you just got to roll with it. Overall I really did like Ryan and the storyline, Maggie did irritate me too much but it was cute and I am looking forward to the next ones.
