As Time Goes By by Mary Higgins Clark

4.0

Out of all the authors I read Mary Higgins Clark has been on the list the longest. The only one from my teen years I still read. While authors tend to decline and I either outgrow or get annoyed by them, Mary Higgins Clark is still able to keep me reading her books. She's had a few duds but overall the lady can tell a good story. In this book we follow the stories of two women. Betsy and wealthy widow on trial for the murder of her husband, a man diagnosed with early onset Alzheimer's and Delaney a reporter covering the trial. As the story unfolds we learned Delaney was adopted and eager to find her birth mother and Is also friends with recurring characters Alvirah and Willie Meehan. While the last time they appeared in a story they drove me crazy, this time around they are helping to track down Delaney's birth mother and are not front and centre. Although I enjoyed reading this book, I decided to go with four stars. It lacks the suspense of her earlier novels, there wasn't really a mystery, especially in the search for Delaney's mother and while the murder was puzzling I figured it out long before the end of the book. Still a quick enjoyable read, I loved the characters even Tony who I found hilarious. I'd recommend to anyone looking for a light easy read or a good beach book.
