This House... by Benjamin Kane Ethridge

2.0

This novella from Benjamin Kane Ethridge starts out as an expletive laden rude and crude mess that starts when a young boy gets grievously injured in a motocross accident and everyone is left trying to pick up the pieces.

The expletives die down quickly to a more acceptable level, but unfortunately the rest of it remains a knot of threads loosely woven into a story that depends more on its shock and eww factors than it does a plot or anything approaching mildly interesting. So many of the factors are utterly over-done in the horror genre. The mentally-disabled man. The druggie. The teenage girl playing the easy lay. The righteous mother-figure. While the plot had the potential to be interesting, this cliche-ridden jack-up was not.

Overall, while it had its interesting scenes, and the climax had some imagery that worked fairly well, this is not a story I would recommend to anyone.
