This book was utterly ridiculous at every turn. I listened on audio and the narrators did a good job, that’s about where the good ends.
When the fmc was 18 she sided with her dad in recommending that the 18 yr old mmc turn down a draft offer. Now for some reason the dumb mmc listened to both of them, then his family was pissed and it somewhat messed up the beginning of his hockey career. The fact that the mmc blamed the fmc at all is insane and if he really did love her the whole time he would’ve searched for her. Not just pined over her and holding out for her for 8 years. Once she was back in his life he was extremely possessive and not in a good way.
Okay now on to the fmc, you’re telling me that she finished vet school and immediately bought (or opened?) a clinic, I don’t believe it. Also, the fact that she still held onto guilt about a dumb decision she made at 18 showed that she hadn’t grown at all. Then she agreed to go along with the mmc plan and instantly they’re both in love again even though there’s no justification for it.
The drama at the end where the GM on the mmc hockey team threatened to cancel his contract unless he broke up with the fmc, I mean come on at least have a toe in the reality pool. That would literally never happen. I will say the fact that the GM called out the mmc rather about his other son having a drug problem was probably the truest thing in this book, but then they flipped out on him for saying that.
At the end of the day, every one of these characters were unlikable and insufferable in all of their decision making. I won’t be reading this author again.
