The first Tana French book I've read and maybe not the best to start with? It took a bit for me to get into it and almost quit but it did pick up and I was enjoying it enough to keep reading but at some point I kept thinking, "Gah, is this book ever going to end?" Did not need to be this long. 
I also hated the main character. He was unlikeable from the beginning but then there's a part where a stray cat is hanging around and he has no desire to feed the cat & make him a house cat so yeah...not trustworthy, ew.
