Stalin: The Court of the Red Tsar by Simon Sebag Montefiore

slow-paced

2.0

Not really a pop history or an academic book, a sort of grey zone of occasional interesting story interspersed among a lot of quoting letters and references to interview - I dont doubt the research but I would have preferred an interesting summary or just seeing some of those sources, this mix didnt do it for me mostly. But interested me enough I do want to read some more books about the era, but a bit more focus or zip.
