A Legend in the Baking
by Jamie Wesley
A Legend in the Baking by Jamie Wesley is a sweet and satisfying romance with a unique twist—pro football players turned cupcake shop owners. When August Hodges, the bakery’s silent partner, accidentally goes viral for defending women bakers and smashing outdated gender norms, he finds himself thrust into the spotlight. To capitalize on his newfound fame, his team hires Sloane Dell, a sharp and ambitious social media manager—who also happens to be his best friend’s little sister and longtime crush.
Sloane and August have a complicated past, and their forced proximity leads to plenty of tension, banter, and undeniable chemistry. Sloane is driven and strategic, while August is more reserved, preferring to stay behind the scenes. Their push-and-pull dynamic keeps things interesting, though at times, Sloane’s persistence borders on manipulative. The romance is slow to build, with much of the book focused on their work relationship before things finally heat up.
While this book isn’t as comedic as the first in the series, it still delivers a charming second-chance romance with themes of ambition, family expectations, and breaking stereotypes. If you love sports romances, sibling’s best friend tropes, and a dash of foodie fun, this one is worth picking up.
