Mustaches for Maddie by Chad Morris, Shelly Brown
5.0

I loved this book so much! It was a slow start for me, but once I got into the quirky rhythm of it I really related to how Maddie's imagination works, and I loved how she and her parents handled tough situations. (There's also a really great teacher character.) If you're looking for a sweet middle grade read that might also make you cry a little, read this now!

There's really nothing in this book that counts as content, just a few things to be aware of before handing it very young readers: This book deals with difficult medical diagnoses and the possibility of death. It also mentions divorce a few times, talks about crushes, and deals with some of the ways children are sometimes mean to each other (including having a girl at school lie about Maddie).

And this one doesn't really count as content, but it just felt weird to me--prayer and praying is mentioned several times, but there's no context at all for what the characters believe that means.
