I like this type of art. It’s a lot less cartoon-y than the comic books I tend to read, and the motion in the images is a bit manga inspired. Too bad this a story that I already knew filled with characters I already despised.
The pedophilia undertones make me seriously uncomfortable. I understand that that's a big point of the story. And I understand that Claudia is about 70 years old during most of the story. So it was tolerable for a while. But when Louis tells her about the night he found her. Ugh. Totally squicked out.
It's not absolutely necessary to know Lestat's backstory, since Claudia doesn't know it. But I think there's supposed to be a certain element of dramatic irony at play here, and it falls flat for me since I don't know his story. I did happen to know who Claudia is, and I imagine the beginning of this story might have been slightly frustrating if I didn't.
