This review will contain some minor spoilers, but if you’ve seen all the Star Wars movies, it’s not something you don’t already know.

So, I’ll go ahead and get the negative out of the way. I would’ve given this book a 4, but the writing felt dry at times, mainly with sections that were unnecessary and seemed to drag on, but this didn’t take away from the overall feeling of the book too much.

The story was amazing though. It was nice to have the bridge between the original trilogy and the sequel trilogy and find out how Rey ended up on Jakku. There was some lore added to the overall universe that was nice. Since this book deals with Luke at the time he was trying to retrain Jedi, of course Ben makes an appearance which was a bit jarring.
