Phew. Done. I had to read these book in 2 parts because of it's length and seriousness (it can be somewhat of a downer) but it was worth the journey. For me, the author being present at many of the Reich's events lends a unique view point and personalization to this truly unbelievable history.

While we all learned about WWII in high school, so many of Hitler's conquering strategies were not remembered by me and so took me once again aback realizing his ability to, in the beginning, conquer countries through only lies and fear. Reading his speeches and finally his last will, it almost seems as if he believed his own lies of wanting peace and having wars forced upon him. Hitler was a truly mad and evil man.
