I really enjoyed this historical mystery set just after World War I, with a strong female protagonist and a setting in a castle on an island off the coast of Britain, filled with characters whose back stories make all of them suspects in the murders that occur during the weekend engagement party they are all attending. Verity Kent attended this party reluctantly but because she was invited by one of her husband’s oldest friends- and her husband died in the War. While in the castle on the island Verity receives clues indicating her husband was not the hero she thought- and then the guests start dying. The atmosphere and descriptions were perfect and the story hummed right along. I will be reading more Verity Kent!!
