I read this in school and hated it - the nuances of what is said in between the lines was hard to grasp and I didn't understand the symbolism yet. More than ten years later, I have read it out of curiosity and I am in awe by it. It really takes time and life experience to connect to it, or at least in my case. Funnily enough, the feeling of unease while reading this book now is the same I was experiencing when I read it in school - just that now I understand that it's exactly the effect of the story. The unease and dread are a main character of this book.
Moderate: Suicide
