The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger

3.5

One of my friends said that this is one of their favourite books, or at least a book they really enjoyed, and lent me their copy after they reread it recently. I will admit, I knew literally nothing about what this was about and I feel like that was a good way to go into it. Maybe?
I can definitely see why it's studied a lot in schools because wow it's a very specific writing style and like, theme/topic/not-really-a-plot. It was tough to get through, and it did feel like I was just pushing through for a lot of it but there were some really quite impactful moments about grief and humanity sprinkled in which was unexpected and enjoyable.
