We Ride Upon Sticks by Quan Barry

Did not finish book. Stopped at 37%.
Read this for Book Club. Slow pacing and hard for me to get into. Eleven main characters and the First Person Plural POV always tricked me into thinking there was a fourth character hiding somewhere. Props to the author for the unique POV. Overall, the book didn't grab me.

UPDATE now that Book Club met:
-> We all agreed that each chapter felt as though there should have been some character development, but there was none. Each chapter focused on a different member of the team. But the characters from beginning to end were stagnant.
-> We had mixed feelings about the use of pop culture references. One of us hated them, the others didn't mind them.
-> 3 out of 4 members didn't finish the book. The one who finished kept speeding up the audiobook until the end.
-> Read like a memoir. The First-Plural narration added to that effect. But like a memoir, all the conflicts introduced throughout the book had anticlimactic resolutions.
-> We all loved Little Smitty.
