Haunting Adeline by H.D. Carlton

dark tense slow-paced
 • Plot- or character-driven? A mix
 • Strong character development? It's complicated
 • Loveable characters? It's complicated
 • Diverse cast of characters? It's complicated
 • Flaws of characters a main focus? Yes

3.25

3.25 (gave an extra .25 bc of the smut). This book is definitely not for everyone. If you're going to read it, check the triggers (and I don't just mean the trigger warning at the beginning of the book. I mean REALLY check the triggers). Zaddy Zade (I will never say that again) is a literal psychopath and is almost the very thing he sets out to destroy.
He may not be a pedophile or sex trafficker but he is a stalker and a rapist.

Addie is really annoying honestly. Every page talks about her hating her stalker and then on every other page, she talks about how creaaaaamy (her words, not mine) he makes her.

Also, a ghost in the house? What kind of book is this? It feels like H.D. Carlton wanted to jam-pack as many dark tropes as possible into this book.

It was way too long and there is a cliffhanger and a second book... and of course, I'm gonna read the book because I want to know what happens.
