This book is a must if you care about women, history, and/or booze. What truly sets it apart from other books on the history of alcohol is that the author spends a lot of time discussing drinking traditions from areas of the globe outside of Europe and North America. This full world view of women in alcohol history is a welcome change from the standard Westernized version of drinks history. This book is also fun and doesn't take itself too seriously while talking about, at times, some very serious stuff.
