Outstanding book! I knew I had to shove this as close to the top of my to-read as I could instantly after reading Sunbearer trials with how great the writing was in that. Was not dissapointed!

This is certainly more of a story about grief and love with a paranormal murder mystery kinda thing on the side but I felt the 2 sides where certainly balanced well. It is kinda predictable, but that certainly doesn't take away from the story in any manner.

The characters are all great - Yadriel's introverted-ness, Maritza's chaotic-ness and Julian's lack of impulse-ness - they all just fit together so well!

There was a couple points in the story where I feel things just flat out where not explained which left me a tad confused. A character suddenly dissapearing from a scene and reappearing randomly later, a general really hard rule that the rest of the book followed which was then broken at the end, but they're kinda small to me, and overall didn't detract from the book too much. Maybe some things just got edited out and where forgotten to be re-added? Not sure, but yeah, expect things like that - it's mostly during the ending only too.

I remembered that a book 2 is coming while I was just finishing this, and got ever so happy. I cannot wait to read more about this wonderful, creative and colourful universe!
