Miss Pettigrew Lives for a Day by Winifred Watson
3.0
For a book that short it took me ages to finish, because I kept not wanting to pick the book up and once I did, I put it back down after 10 or so pages.
The beginning is at first boring and then confusing, with characters being introduced at random without many differentiating features.
The book takes place in the 30s, but it was appalling and gross to read how all the men were treating the women. How Miss Pettigrew ended up recommending any of them to Delysia is beyond me. The ending, or rather, the last third, is very cute and uplifting. For once we see Miss Pettigrew actually happy and that part alone would get four stars for me. The entire rest of the book is just 2 stars, though.
