The Mysterious Benedict Society and the Prisoner's Dilemma
by Trenton Lee Stewart
This was a nice ending to the series, even if probably wraps up a bit too tidily for some readers. For myself, I like a good happy ending, so I enjoyed it. My main nitpick with the book was the large role that telepathy plays in the plot, though I supposed it's not too far-fetched given the events of previous books. As usual, the Society members' various gifts each come into play at different points, though in this case their brilliance and bravery threaten to be their undoing. I like the balance in these books between puzzle solving and action, which again showcases how people can be exceptionally talented in a variety of ways, while also keeping the plot moving. I'm happy that Stewart was able to maintain the spirit and quality of these books throughout the trilogy, and I would definitely get this series for my kids.
