Make You Mine This Christmas by Lizzie Huxley-Jones

2.5

The romance didn't have have space (or time) to properly develop. The declarations of love (and forevers!) at the end felt bizarre and like they'd come out of nowhere.

We barely got to know Kit. I didn't like the way her chronic illness was treated. Its impact on her life was barely touched on, just the occasional vague reference along the lines of "I have a chronic illness so I have some emotional issues". Pretty superficial and a shame for chronic illness/disability to appear as a sort of diversity check box.

The plot just didn't have enough space for the love interests to spend meaningful time together.

I appreciated the queerness of it all, that friendships were formed along the way etc.

It managed to be endearing despite these issues - 2.5 stars
