Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone
by Diana Gabaldon
I am so grateful I got one more year of starting out my reading challenge by reading an Outlander series book. It will now likely be several years before it will be a new story. I always enjoy returning to the world of Jamie and Claire, their children and their places in time.
We are now learning more about the powers of those who can travel through the stones and how they can extend beyond traveling through time to healing, sensing auras and each other. Claire even managed to bring Jamie back to life so he’s now defied death 7? Or 8? Times of the nine predicted by the fortune teller in Paris.
We were left with many dangling story lines: Will Lord John be saved or hanged for his crimes of sodomy? Will we understand more about who Richardson is and how he knows Claire since he is clearly a traveler and out to change history? Will the family make it through the Revolution without anymore casualties? Will Jamie avoid anymore snake bites in the future? What more will Claire be able to do once her hair has gone fully white since she’s essentially brought Jamie back from the dead? And I was so relieved that the corporeal they rescued from Ulysses’s company got the letter and the original land grant back for Jamie so at least that is not an immediate threat right now, though I bet Ulysses will be back.
I am very curious to see where she will take us in the next novel. I was sad to see this one end, as I always am.
