Demerits: use of the R word was very off-putting; some of the dialogue, especially Andrew’s, was really odd and borderline cringy at times; some portions of the book were confusing and character motivations and alliances change a lot in the book, so it’s really hard to keep track of everything (even as someone who has read this series previously); Neil is a pretty boring character when put up against characters like Andrew and Kevin - he’s supposed to be this hardened-by-life guy but he doesn’t really act in this manner; Nicky is genuinely annoying, I’m not really a fan of him

What I liked: Andrew is probably one of my favorite characters in any book I’ve read- he is a whole person, with a strong personality and complicated motivations; Kevin is a much more present and interesting character for me upon reread when compared to my first read; even though I have read this series before, I’ve forgotten a lot of the plot so a lot of it feels magical and new to me; although I can recognize that this book has problematic elements and that it is ridiculously unrealistic, it’s such a fun, fast read and I’m so happy I decided to pick this up for a reread on a whim
