Lock In by John Scalzi
4.0

5 stars for building a plausible storyline about a devastating disease that causes millions of people to become "locked in" and unable to move but with full mental capacity (like "The Diving Bell and the Butterfly"). Billions of research dollars result in a brain mesh that allows the locked in to control a robot body (like the movie "Surrogates").

3.5 stars for a good detective story but with too many trite elements like the mismatched cop partners and the bad first day on the job (Like the movie "I Robot").

4 stars for the plot of greed versus good. The situation that unfolds would be terrifying for the locked in. Some plot points I could unravel immediately, and I was right which one was the big bad guy for at least 1/3 of the book.

Overall - YES! You'll like the world and the plot. This feels like a series.
