Ahh! My Favourite Bad Decision was gorgeous. Filled with yearning and heart, it’s one of those stories that has you so actively invested in it that you can’t think of anything else and not knowing exactly what happens next or in the end literally keeps you up at night. Like, I’m running on three hours of sleep right now.
Kit and Miller’s chemistry is off the scale. I’m not even talking physically. Their minds are so in sync that it’s immediately obvious that they’re meant to be. They challenge each other, comfort each other, and bring out all of their best qualities. It’s truly beautiful to read.
The exploration of grief is really touching. It’s not delved into too deeply, but the right amount, I think, for where Kit is at in her life right now. I want to wrap her in cotton wool and tell her everything is okay.
Their relationship is taboo, because they met when Miller was dating Kit’s sister but also because she was seventeen at the time, but there is nothing icky about their story. They handled it with care and respect, and they’d wait another three decades for each other if they needed to.
I genuinely loved this book and I am STOKED for Maren and Charlie’s story (another little taboo subject there… oo-er!). Elizabeth O’Roark, you’ve done it again!
