Very solid book. I very much enjoyed this and sped through it. I knocked it down a star, because the way that Mark and Kate became friends [so quickly] was fairly unbelievable to me. Not impossible, and it would've been made better if there had been more energy put into developing their friendship. It just felt awkward and unrealistic.

The writing oscillated between being very accessible and "normal", to very figurative and poetic. Not a bad thing, and probably representative of the mental state of the ages of the characters in the book. When you're a teen, everything is very dramatic, so I understand. It was just a bit jilted and switched gears on a dime, though. Kind of disorienting.

Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to other people. Nice, gay novel. The relationships felt real, because they had real problems and character development.
