We Are Each Other's Harvest: Celebrating African American Farmers, Land, and Legacy by Natalie Baszile

“The earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the earth. All things are connected like the blood that unites us all. Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together. All things connect.”

I liked this book but enjoyed it less than I thought I would. Beautiful poems, excerpts from books, essays on legal issues, and personal story essays filled this book with the struggle, beauty, and promise of Black farmers. I didn’t love the intense focus on land ownership, but understood it’s place in this book.
