Joyland by Stephen King

5.0

Loved it, completely loved it. And yes, this is not a horror book, it's more a come-of-age mixed with a murder mystery and some supernatural elements on.

The story, the atmosphere, the characters, all is masterfully presented. I ached for Devon, for the little kid, and for the loneliness and melancholy of being an adult looking back to your youth.

It's King at his best, which doesn't always mean necessarily the Master of Horror; sometimes he's simply a master storyteller.
