hara 's review for:
Kill All Enemies
by Melvin Burgess
I don't know what it was that made me not rate this higher. The writing was as good as first person narratives can create, the situations of the characters were realistic and therefore the plot wasn't too bad either. Yet, somehow, the characters never actually connected with me- even though I could tell the author was trying to make us, the readers, emotionally invest in them through 'heart breaking' stories. Some of the stuff that happened was horrible, but did that mean I was a lifelong fan of Billie or whoever? No.
There are a lot of reviews telling how excellent they believe the book to be, and although I could have gone without readings this, I would still recommend it. See how you find it. Maybe you'll be more connected with the characters, and therefore get something out of this award winning author's book.
