Cursed Bunny by Bora Chung
5.0

I finished reading “Cursed Bunny” as an e-book a couple of nights ago, but after purchasing a physical copy earlier today when I was out in town with my lovely girlfriend I decided to do a reread on most parts and… God damn it. I would build a throne for Bora Chung with my bare hands purely so that I can kneel down before it.

This. Book. Blew. My. Mind.

Rereading “Cursed Bunny” a second time and actually analysing each story made such a difference. Suddenly I could see all the layers underneath, and found hidden messages sneaked into every little detail. It starts with “The Head”, a disgusting story about a woman who tries to run away from her own dreams and desires so that she can be happy with living the life everyone else expects her to, and ends in “Reunion”, a story about people who has gotten stuck in life and are unable to save themself unless someone else sets them free. And then - in between this - we get a taste of female oppression, generational trauma, greed, betrayal and the crushing weight of tradition.

Bora Chung delivers quality from the first page to the last.
