I received an e-copy of this book from the publishers at NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Yet another impulse request from NetGalley. I really should look into this overwhelming need to read any and all paranormal romance books available to me on NetGalley. It's becoming an obsession. Of course with the yumtastic cover and the stellar synopsis, who wouldn't be intrigued. I dove into this book with my hopes at the pivotal tippy-top of the spectrum.

Neyla disparagingly joins the army after they discover her latent Talent of protection. The choose to utilize her special gift to protect their soldiers while engaging in battle with the barbarians they are at war with. Neyla, and many of the bitter soldiers at her back, are none too happy about this, but what choice do either of them have? Neyla is on a mission with her unit to scout a possible portal location between their world and the barbarians' and take out any of the enemy they encounter along the way. Neyla is nervous and having a blustering, bitter man set on ridding his unit of her doesn't help. After a heated argument the man tries to kill her, knocking her unconscious.

That is how Rickert finds her. Feeling the tingle of her talent along his skin he realizes he can't let her awaken and return to her unit so she can hunt and kill his people. No, he much either dispose of her himself or use her for his own people's gain. However, before a decision can be made, Rickert touches the sleeping beauty and is bombarded with erotic visions of a future he never dreamed for himself. Love, happiness, and safety he had never dared to wish for. Is the enemy in his arms his last chance at happiness or will she be the downfall of his people?

Another shorty but a goody. At 150 pages, one would not expect it's reader to become as entranced in the story line as I was. I was swallowing tears hearing stories of the hurt that has befallen both Rickert and Neyla in their lives before they met. I was rooting for the two to get together and I had my fingers crossed the whole time that the visions they shared together would slowly come to actualization.

In a typical dramatic fashion, Assassin's Touch shows it's readers that love truly does conquer all... even if that 'all' is a war between worlds and a deep hatred of everything each other stands for.
