Okay, the way I FINISHED THIS BOOK IN FOUR HOURS is actually crazy because how in the world did I get absolutely lost in the book?

Hudson is the perfect book boyfriend, and honestly, he’s one of my favourites. I actually loved how this book started hinting at the Carolina Reapers series. But anyway, back to Hudson, not only is he tall, handsome, and a hockey player, he has the kindest and most loyal heart of any of the characters. No judgement, no selfishness, just loyalty and thoughtfulness. It’s always the ones that are “rude” that are actually the most generous in the whole world.

Hudson loved Shea and her daughter Elliot, and I love how their personalities shine through. I love how Hudson easily worked his way into the lives of the two ladies, but also helped them learn more about their strength, perseverance and love. You can’t help but swoon over this man, especially when he wore his heart on his sleeve, and he had to prove himself worthy more than once.

Shea had a traumatic and violent relationship (so please be aware of this trigger warning), and I admired the strength she had to do what was best for her daughter, always putting her first. I also admired how she took her bad deal, and made a royal flush, because she became ten times the woman she ever thought she’d be. She was cautious for a good read, and it took a while for her to let her guard down. There were times where I wanted to shake her and say “move on” but I get where she’s coming from.

I loved how protective Hudson was and how he made the people in his life feel valued and special, and how he fought for the woman he loved, both physically and mentally. The last chapter was my favourite as it gave a glimpse into the future of their well-deserved happily ever after. This was a top tier book in my opinion, and really hooked you in - in the best way possible.
