Beneath the Dead Oak Tree by E.M. Carroll

5.0

ok so this is an exceptionally short read - just 32 pages long - and yet. and yet. I just finished reading Through the Woods a while ago, and I felt "wow this is gorgeous but I was really unnerved and most of this was atmospheric story telling with scary stories that will haunt me for a while even though I'd rather forget but ultimately my goldfish memory will triumph and I will forget everything about everything." regardless. I just finished reading this. I am in love. It is short, beautiful, poetic. It is pithy. I guess I admire that the most about any story. Especially visual, seeing how in love I have been with visual storytelling anyway. I am in love with this story. I am now going to seek out this storyteller.
