I had initially rated this book 4 stars when I read it in 2017, but bringing it down to 3.5 upon my re-read in 2023. I really enjoyed this and it was very gripping! It is evidently written by a very young author and for young audiences, which I have no issue with, but it doesn't have the same emotional impact or literary prowess as my 4-5 star books. Looking forward to the rest of the series as the author and the content matures!
