The Perfect Child by Lucinda Berry

3.0

Edited:
Rating increased from ⭐️⭐️ to ⭐️⭐️⭐️ due to Luicina Berry’s post reading the epilogue, which she wrote but her editor nixed prior to publishing. I feel better now - about the abrupt ending, but not about the fate of that puppy, kitty, and baby brother.

Skip this one if you prefer conclusions. The final pages ended so abruptly it felt like the closing chapter wasn’t printed. I reread a couple of chapters to make sure I didn’t miss a subtle message or something. I now resent reading this book. Whether they have an ending I would love or hate, forget immediately or remember indefinitely, there are countless other books on my To Read shelf I wish I’d spent time on instead. Was this the author’s purpose?
