Rick has been wounded in battle and Jack and Liz go to Germany to see the extent the damage and maybe say goodbye. The man they find in the hospital bed is not the Rick they knew around Virgin River. Kind hearted Jack must stay strong and be the father Rick needs. Rick seems bent on breaking his relationships, especially with Liz, his first love.
Mel finally talks Cheryl, the town drunk, to go into rehab and try to give herself a chance. Dan Brady, the mysterious man and grower, finally comes into town and Jack finds out more about the man he has dispised. Cameron might have found the woman he could spend his life with...or maybe not.
Another great novel in the Virgin River series. This one was filled with emotions that i found myself chocked up at parts. I am glad that Cam and Dan get the chance to tell their story and I love their strength. I can't even type Rick without wanting to cry.
