Me and White Supremacy: Combat Racism, Change the World, and Become a Good Ancestor by Layla Saad

4.0

This is a simple easy to read primer of many anti-racist concepts. From the angry reviews you’d get the impression that reading this would harm me somehow. I have never been harmed by critically evaluating my assumptions. It’s uncomfortable but challenging oneself always is.

This book is more of a workbook. Each short chapter is accompanied by some journaling prompts. If you’re not into that you’ll get less out of the book. I found them helpful. I dug through my life and unearthed a lot of racist bones I had stopped thinking about. As the author tries to tell you cannot change what you cannot see. Hence this book, a beginner guide to seeing the ocean we are swimming in. No problem has ever gone away by ignoring it.
