Perfect Fling by Carly Phillips
4.0

Perfect Fling is an opposites attract, one night stand, surprise pregnancy romance. Erin is an assistant district attorney who has always been the "good" girl, doing what's expected and everything "right". Cole has always been the town "bad" boy, getting into trouble in his teen years. He moved away with him mom when he was in his early teens and has just come back to town for a period of time. After Erin's brother's wedding, she and Cole end up having a one night stand, but both agree it's just for one night. Cole has no plans to stay around long term, and after his break intends to go back to his under cover work. However, everything gets turned around when a few months later Erin is not only pregnant, but finds her life in danger and Cole is the perfect person to try and protect her and keep her safe.

I'm a sucker for anything angsty, so in many ways the Perfect Fling was a perfect fit for me. Erin knows Cole has no plans to stick around, despite the baby, yet finds herself attracted and unable to create distance between them. Cole has a lot of baggage. He had a very antagonistic relationship with his father, who has always let Cole know what a disappointment he is. Because of his upbringing he feels he isn't worthy of being a partner to Erin and believes the work he does as an under cover officer is something he needs in his life. I really enjoyed the both the mystery and angst in this one, although I had figured out who the big bad was in this one from their very first mention, before the mystery even got under way. That being said, it was still a fun read and I very much enjoyed the angst and romance.
