This was another recommendation from a friend’s husband who said I had to read this (first was The Sanatorium). At this point I think he’s trolling me a bit. Was this book captivating? Yes. I read it in less than 24 hours. Did it make me want to put it in the freezer like Joey on Friends does with The Shining? Also yes. The dad in this book is a creepy awful human and I hate that people like him can exist in the world. Half star deduction just out of principle for that, but if you’re into psychological thrillers this one definitely fits the bill. Excuse me while I go read a fun, escapist palette cleanser.
