Ducks, Newburyport by Lucy Ellmann

5.0

Stream of consciousness, field and stream, field of dreams. The fact that I like long complicated novels. Ulysses, Remembrance of Things Past. Mommy.

I listened to this as an audiobook, all 44 hours. There were times that I wondered if I would make it all the way through. There were times I wondered about mountain lions, and how much I was willing to suspend my disbelief. There were times.

There were also times when what I was listening to was eerily too close to what was going on in my own life. The fact that I could feel my mind thinking in ways similar to the narrator. Oh, did I mention that I went to college in Ohio?

The fact that my kind of people write reviews praising this book, in the style of the book. The fact that I want to write like that too. The fact that I hope someone likes this review, decides to read the book, and then become my friend on Goodreads. The fact that I hope it's not Ronnie.
