serenathorn 's review for:
The Night Circus
by Erin Morgenstern
I kept reading, hoping something would happen. But finally when the "big event" did happen it seemed to amount to nothing. So much build up for what felt like nothing at all. Certainly not the big payoff that the book seemed to be headed towards. It annoyed me more than anything.
The imagery conjured by the writing, however, was fantastic. (As was the intro and outro music used for the audiobook.) Unfortunately that's the only aspect of the book that I feel can even slightly be referred to as such. It's just disappointing that the rest of the book couldn't seem to match the wonder of the characters' surroundings.
